Mount Ranier
When I first caught a glimpse of Mount Rainier through the trees while driving it made me stop in wonder at the impossibility that it could exist. I had spent hours driving on winding roads along rivers flowing fast through dense forest where the sun didn’t shed its light all the way to the ground.
When the road turned upward and the sun struck the windshield I could barely see and when, finally the road straightened I was presented with this fantastic view. How could this be? I wondered. My camera, good as it is, does not do justice to this place.
When I got closer the next day I met a young man who had spent the morning running down the mountain. Oh to be so young again I thought as I sat outside sipping my coffee and enjoying a cherry gallette at the guest house in Mount Rainier National Park.
