Lonesome dirt road

This unmarked dirt road in the desert was completely quiet. Not a car or truck in sight for miles in either direction. I was alone with the spiders and scorpions for hours. Only the tracks in the dust were evidence of anyone having come this way and there was no way to tell how long ago that was. It had been cold, nearly thirty degrees Fahrenheit overnight and when the sun came up the land turned to gold and the temperature quickly rose to nearly a hundred degrees before I packed up and left.
This is the loneliest place I have ever been in daylight.
