Birchwood trail

October weather in Wisconsin sends leaves to the forest floor where the lay like a carpet leading into the woods.
I wondered what was around the bend.
What new adventure awaited while I sipped my coffee and continued onward.
The smell of the forest and the soft crunch of woodchips under my feet, the only sound.
I was alone in a world where only the birch trees know the passing of days.
